30 Years of Take One!

In July we staged our summer production (see below) and held a celebratory party on the Saturday night for members of Take One (past and present). Thank you to everyone who was involved with this and who came along to see the production and support us. We all had a wonderful time during the week. Thank you.

'LAST TANGO IN T'PARISH & MORE MIDSUMMER MADNESS'

Our summer production required an audience with a good sense of fun and we certainly got them. We were very nervous on our opening night and once the first titters of laughter starting rippling from the auditorium we had a ball from then on in.

In the first half we presented our one act play 'Last Tango In T'Parish'. It is a comedy set in a Yorkshire Village (Upper Settle?) and is about an amateur dramatics group which is suffering from lack of members. In an attempt to boost audience figures and possibly go out with a bang, the producer (in the play) writes a play and advertises it with the phrase: 'THIS PLAY CONTAINS EXPLICIT SCENES OF NUDITY WHICH MAY ALSO SHOCK OR OFFEND'. The play was written by David Tristram.

Our second half was just as much fun. It included 'The Molecatcher' and Joyce Grenfell sketches and finished with 'The Sound of Music in Twenty Minutes'. A fun-filled adaptation of the popular musical and cast members included: Eric Parker (as Maria), Graeme Lawson (as Liesl), Graham Jarvis (as the Baroness), Paul Thornton as Brigitta, Jim Corden as The Captain, Michael Day as Louisa, Pat Jowett as Marta, Chris Sturrock as Friedrich, Sean Firth as Kurt, Eddie Longton as Gretl, Susan Gavaghan as the Girl in Pink, Barbara Rigby as the Narrator, Audrey Daley as the Vision of Loveliness and Will Lawson as the Bee. A very pretty picture as you can see above.

Performances took place on Thursday 27th & Friday 28th July at the Victoria Hall, Settle, 8pm.

NB: Saturday's performance was for past and present members and invited guests in celebration of the group's 30th Anniversary.

On this special 30th Anniversary Take One members wanted to thank four very special ladies. Without the dedication that these four have shown over the past thirty years (or thereabouts for three of them), the group might have fizzled out long ago. They are: Margaret Barker, Pauline Harrison, Audrey Daley and Barbara Rigby. Michael Day (also a founder member) received a commemorative gift too. The photograph below is of the four ladies receiving their gifts from Wendy Lawson (current Chairman).

If anyone else has any photographs of the party night please send them on to us by emailing: info@takeonedrama.org.uk

Thank you
