1913 - 2009

On Thursday 6th August 2009 our beloved Gladys passed away. She was only two months away from her 96th birthday. Although she had suffered with Alzheimers for a number of years and had been becoming more frail, it was still hard for us to say goodbye.

The service took place on Wednesday 19th August and it meant such a lot to us that the Reverend Neil Kendra, family friend and neighbour to Gladys for many years, could lead the service at the crematorium and afterwards at St Alkelda's Church, Giggleswick.

Thank you friends for your messages of sympathy for your cards, flowers and donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research and Greenfoot Amenity Fund.

Gladys wrote a book about the characters of Giggleswick and we will be selling the remaining copies of this book to raise funds for Greenfoot Amenity Fund some time in the future.

2009 is a red/claret year!

In March I celebrated a big birthday and instead of presents collected donations for a good cause - Friday 13th March 2009 - Comic Relief/Red Nose Day!

Other red/claret associations - Graeme,Will and I took our first flight with Virgin Atlantic to go to Disneyland, Florida!!!!!! Virgin's 25th Birthday year too - love their all red advertisement.

........and I have a lovely red car which includes the letters WCC (Wendy's Claret Car). After losing control of my Peugeot 206 on the black ice in December 2008 and writing off my sparkly blue car I picked up my claret one on Friday 2nd January 2009.

Up the Clarets!

Burnley Football Club are in the premiership. We journeyed to Wembley Stadium on May Bank holiday and the clarets were victorious!
